Market Environment
Wall Street remains at record highs as investors eagerly await a speech by Fed Chair Jerome Powell, scheduled for today. The tone is expected to stay similar to the last meeting, but some internal disagreements are surfacing, like the analysis by Stephen Miran, who believes rates should be 2 points lower, according to UBS.
The market is also anticipating the release of the PCE index on Friday, one of the Fed's preferred inflation measures. Before that, September’s flash PMI and the Richmond Fed’s manufacturing index will set the pace for the day.
The current momentum is largely driven by tech stocks, as seen in the strategic deal between Nvidia and OpenAI, with investments that could reach $100 billion in AI infrastructure.
"US stock gains are increasingly resembling those of 2023 and 2024, led by a small group — the Magnificent 7," notes Jim Reid (Deutsche Bank).
