Market Environment
US markets are rebounding this Wednesday, supported by growing optimism over an imminent deal to end the government shutdown. A vote expected in the House could extend state funding until January 30, or even until the end of September for certain agencies.
Jim Reid (Deutsche Bank) points out:
“Could today finally be the day that we know that the longest government shutdown in history might be coming to an end?”
On Tuesday, the indices closed mixed: the S&P 500 gained +0.21%, despite pressure on Nvidia (-2.96%) and disappointing ADP data. Veterans Day also limited volumes.
Today, several Fed members will speak, including John Williams (NY), Anna Paulson (Philly), Christopher Waller, and Stephen Miran. Their statements will be closely watched for clues on upcoming monetary policy decisions.
