Flat session in Tokyo: markets remained cautious ahead of the Bank of Japan's monetary policy decision. The yen slightly appreciated toward 148 per $1, increasing pressure on exporters.
China – Shanghai Composite +0.37%
Mixed trading on the mainland after failed trade talks in Stockholm. Attention now shifts to tomorrow’s PMIs. The yuan remains stable around 7.17/$.
Hong Kong – Hang Seng -0.78%
Tech stocks retreated in Hong Kong amid ongoing trade tensions and a lack of concrete progress in talks between Washington and Beijing.
India – Sensex -0.02%
Slight decline despite the IMF’s upward revision of growth outlook. Uncertainty surrounding threats of new US tariffs keeps pressure on the market.
Australia – ASX 200 +0.63%
The Australian market advanced thanks to lower-than-expected inflation, strengthening expectations of a prolonged RBA pause. The Australian dollar rebounded above $0.651.
